Mechanical Engineer minoring in Computer Science

at Stevens Institute of Technology

Below are some personal and professional projects that exhibit my experience and interests

Mechanical Projects

Power Hacksaw

Company:

Stevens Institute of Technology

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

Power Hacksaw designed by me for a case study. The objective was to model the rotational motion of an arm driven by a crank. I created a fully mated tensioning mechanism as well as geometrically accurate blade and blade mounting system in SOLIDWORKS so that the hacksaw would be production ready. Utilized a wingnut and a tensioning bar. This was well beyond the scope of the school project but a fun exercise.

Playground Structure

Company:

Stevens Institute of Technology

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

The objective of this design project was to create four playground elements and and analyze stresses on them under realistic loads. The playground was designed for children ages 3-6 and included a slide, [unsafe] climbing structure, monkey bars, and a tower. The chosen FOS was 2.5, and the SOLIDWORKS simulation add-on was used to run analysis and ensure the safety criteria were met. Sources were gathered for the safety criteria and common loads for each element.

Custom Engraved Dice

Company:

Stevens Machine Shop

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

Shown are a pair of brass dice that were designed and manufactured by me. Engraved is my last name. FUSION360 CAM software was used to generate G-code for a Bridgeport mill.

First Robotics

Company:

FIRST SCIBORGS 1155

Location:

Bronx, NY

Description:

I had the time of my life with my high school robotics team. I was a part of the mechanical half where we designed the robot, machined the parts and assembled them. Our team made it to the world championship in St. Louis in my second year. We won the regional imagery and team spirit award in my first.

Autonomous Robot with Lidar and Ultrasonic Sensors

Company:

Stevens Institute of Technology

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

The objective of this design project was to create an autonomous robot that could navigate obstacles and reach targets. I created a body for a premade chassis, and then assembled and wired the body, chassis and the sensors. We used an Arduino Uno board for the brains of the robot, and utilized ultrasonic and lidar sensors so that the robot could get a sense of its location and its proximity to obstacles. Lidar data was uploaded to a server and then fetched by the Arduino. The code of the robot featured course correction, and location prediction (since the lidar only sent data every several seconds). The robot was programmed to reach any given coordinates, and did not have a preset path. There were four total targets that the robot reached.

MRI scan to VTK FEM with search function

Company:

Weickenmeier Neuromechanical Research Lab

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

Segmented MRI files (using Freesurfer), and then wrote MATLAB script to convert segmented files into an FEM which could be viewed in Paraview as a VTK file or converted into an .inp file for analysis in Abaqus. My MATLAB script also allowed for compression and search functionality.

Other Projects

The Palaver

Company:

The Stevens Palaver

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

Me and one of my favorite professors had a written dialogue about the relationship between passion and suffering. 3 other professor-student pairs had a dialogue regarding some other prompt relating to passion, and the complete discussions were published in the 3rd edition of the Stevens Palaver.

Location:

Hoboken, NJ

Description:

First draft of untitled song. Made on Ableton live 11 trial version.
